Multiple Cost Methods
If you have multiple cost methods, but a majority of your products will use one cost, then you may want to assign that cost method to every product in your database first using the method illustrated above. Then you can use the following steps to change the cost for those products that require one of the other methods you have created. This can save you a lot of time if you have 100 products in your database and 75 of them use the same cost method.

It is important to note that the system will by default assign all products in your database to use the current settings for the Per Product by Price method. You must specifically assign products to any custom methods you create. This is helpful should you inadvertantly miss assigning any of the products in your database.
