Password eDelivery Setup Instructions

The following instructions will guide you through the steps for setting up a product which, after payment, will deliver a password and, if you wish, a username, to your customer which will allow them to login to a specified, password protected web page. Please contact your IHP for instructions on creating a password protected web page(s).


1) Create your Password file. This should be a plain text (.txt) file with the passwords in one column (one per line) on the left  edge of the page. To provide associated Usernames with the passwords, each line will have one password followed by a tab, followed by the username.
Example:
password1    username1   
password2    username2   
password3    username3   

If you prefer to have your Password file created for you, we can do this in lots of 5,000 at a minimal charge. Please  contact support@ecommercehelpdesk.com for details.

2) If you have not yet entered your password protected product(s) into your eManager database, and place the Add to Cart link code(s) for the product(s) in your web pages.

3) From your eManager, Select "Password Delivery" from the Product Related Activities menu.

4) Click on the "Upload Password File" link. Follow the on-screen directions to locate the .txt password file you created on your local computer and upload it to your eManager. Return to the Module Main Page when your upload is complete.

5) Use the Search function to display the chosen password protected product.

6)  Enter the exact URL to the password protected login page.
  6b)  Enter any instructions you want your customer to have.
  6c)  Check the Assign Password Delivery box to designate    this product as a password delivery product and have a password assigned to it when purchased.  See the Manually Assign Password section below for assigning a password (and username if applicable) without placing a new order through your website.
  6d) Click the Save Changes button to save your work.


To Test Your Password eDelivery
1)  Go to your web page and add the password protected product to your cart and checkout.

2) After payment, use the provided Password (and Username if applicable) to login to the linked password protected URL.

 

Manually Assign Password

There may be times that you will wish to assign a password, and username if applicable, without placing an order and accepting payment for it first. To assign a password without payment, follow these steps:

1)  From your eManager, select  "Password Delivery" from the Product Related Activities menu.

2)  Use the Search function to retrieve the needed password protected
product.

3) Check the box labeled Show Password Display

4) Check the box labeled Assign Password From Database

5) Click on the button labeled Show Password Display 

6) A password (and username if applicable) will be assigned from the database and displayed for you.
