The following instructions will guide you through
the steps for setting up a downloadable product for your customers to download after
payment. You may create as many downloadable products as you wish following these steps.
1) Upload the file (s) your
customers will be downloading to a secret folder of your choosing in your
website directory. You may wish to make this a .zip file for faster download time.
(You will need to make this a binary file. A .zip compression is a good
choice for all platforms.)
2) If you have not yet entered your download product(s) into
your eManager database, do so now, and place the Add to Cart link code(s) for the
product(s) in your web pages.
3) From your eManager, select the "Add or Edit Deliver
Files" from the Product Related Activities menu.
4) Use the Search function to display the chosen delivery
product.
5) Enter the URL to your secret zip file
5a) Edit the download link title if desired
5b) Edit the download/unzip/special instructions if
desired.
5c) Edit the timer value if desired. The default is
set to 15 minutes. When the allotted time has expired, the download link provided
after purchase will be deactivated by the system. See the Build Download
Links section below for creating timed download links without placing a new
order through your website.
6) Click "Save Changes"
7) Hit the Search button again to pull up the product you
just assigned.
8) Test the download link for your zip file.
9) Click on the Save Changes button to save your work.
Build Download Links
There are several reasons why you might need to
create timed download links without placing a new order. For example, a customer may claim
that their computer crashed, or they lost their internet connection during download and
the link timed out before they were able to retrieve the product they paid
for. In a case such as this, follow these steps:
1) From your eManager, select
the "Add or Edit Deliver Files" from
the Product Related Activities menu.
2) Use the Search function to retrieve the needed download
product.
3) Click on the Build Download Links button.
4) You may now copy/paste the link into an email and send it to
your customer. The link will expire in the time allotted. (Default
is 15 minutes.)
To Test Your Download File eDelivery
1) Go to your web page and add the delivery product to your cart
and checkout.
2) Attempt to determine the real URL to the secret zip file in your
website directory during and after the download process.
3) Try the download link after your timer setting has expired.
